Winter Produce CSA
Coon Rock Farm is offering a Winter Produce CSA lasting 20 weeks from early October until mid/late March, depending on weather. Each week will include $20.00 of vegetables and herbs. The Winter CSA subscription fee is $400. Please note, the $400 subscription fee is non-refundable.
We are limiting the CSA subscriptions and expect that we will sell out quickly. Please get your application in soon as spaces are limited. Payment is required with your application to secure your subscription.
We grow a large variety of produce on 5 acres of intensely planted gardens. You can expect 3 to 5 different items in each weekly box. Some weeks may have more than others but we will make sure that you have gotten your $400 worth by the end of the season.
Growing crops in North Carolina in the winter can be touch-and-go depending on the weather. The last two years were tough with several very cold days that killed many of our crops, but the year before was great and we had production all winter long. This year, we are planting over an acre of various fall and winter crops under row covers and we are also adding a third 30 foot by 90 foot “high tunnel” that will give us even more frost/cold protection than before. Here is a list of what should be available this fall and winter:
Lettuces (many varieties throughout the season), Mesclun lettuce mix, Braising greens mix, Cabbage, Chinese cabbage, Bok choy, Kale, Mizuna, Tatsoi, Broccoli, Broccoli rabe (rapini), Brussel sprouts, Cauliflower, Kohlrabi, Turnip greens, Collards, African greens, Spinach, Mustard greens, Arugula, Swiss chard, Carrots, Beets, Turnips, Radish, Winter Squash, Sweet potatoes
** In the event of crop failure or shortage, some additional produce may be sourced from other local organic farms.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that a CSA is not for everyone and that not all CSA's are alike. In order to handle the volume, we pack all of our CSA boxes the same which means you are not able to select what goes in your box and we only provide locally grown, in-season produce. If you are expecting summer type produce in your CSA box or if you want to choose the contents of your box each week, you will be disappointed and should not subscribe.
A Fall/Winter CSA subscription is $400 due with your application.
EGGS: We also offer a weekly egg supplement to our Produce CSA -- you can get one dozen pasture raised and antibiotic and hormone free eggs delivered each week with your CSA box. Eggs are $100 for the 20 weeks. Be sure to let us know on the application that you want to include eggs.
